Dodexaphone

This is a musical instrument I have invented, based
on the shape of the dodecahedron. It is the first polyhedral design
for an instrument that I am aware of, and is therefore highly
ergonomic, as it fits into the hands quite comfortably. Since
the dodecahedron has 12 faces, it is easy to map each face to
one of the 12 pitches of the Western musical chromatic scale.
I have discovered a mapping of these pitches that corresponds
to the circle of fifths, and so geometrically preserves the harmonic
and acoustical relationships inherent to the 12-tone system (and
that's the patentable part). Additionally, I have created a synaesthetic
correspondence of colors to the notes and faces, facilitating
easy orientation of the instrument, as well as a potentially flashy
light show. Ideally, the round buttons would be colored by light
from within, and would also have two smaller concentric buttons,
to afford a three-octave range (three buttons per face). I have
shown this concept to several reputable companies, and have received
positive feedback, and am still shopping it around. If you are
a developer, owner of a toy company, or a manufacturer of similar
devices, feel free to contact me below for more information.
